Brady, McKeel Run to Titles, Mallory White of LCS Finishes Second in Girls Competition

LAKELAND | Casey Brady ate his American cheese instant grits Thursday morning to fuel his body before the Class 1A, District 9 meet at Holloway Park. The night before, McKeel Academy teammate Dustin White held a carb party where the team filled up on plenty of pasta to get ready.

The food helped, as Brady powered his way to a first-place finish, completing the race in 17 minutes, 18.20 seconds, one second shy of a personal best. White came in second in 17:25.10, and three other runners from McKeel rounded out the top six to help the team repeat as the district champs on the boys' side: Leif Henrikson, Duncan Lippincott and Dylan Sadowsky.
